Tin disulfide is a non-organic compound that has chemical formula SnS2. It is a yellow hexagonal flake with that has a CdI2 crystal structure. It is not soluble in water, but it's solubilized in aqua regia or hot alkaline solution. It is also in sodium sulfide Solution, which is often used as golden paint.

Tin disulfide will dissolve in the alkali in hot and aqua regia solution and can undergo the coordination reaction in concentrated hydrochloric acid. However, it's imsoluble within dilute hydrochloric acid, insoluble in water, and Nitric acid. It is also able to react when mixed with ammonium to dissolve.

Electrochemical behavior of multi-walled carbon nanotubes that are confined to tin disulfide, the negative electrodes of lithium-ion battery

Direct current arc-plasma method was used to prepare multi-walled carbon nanotube-confined metal nanostructures (Sn@MWCNT) as an initial precursor in a methane-based atmosphere. SnS_2@MWCNT-like nanostructures were fabricated by in the reaction of sulfurization. The physical characterization results of the material , such as Raman, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and the transmission electron microscope (TEM) showed that the length of the multi-walled carbon nanotubes was approximately 400nm, the carbon layer on the surface was well crystallized, The thickness of the carbon was 10 nm. Lithium-ion batteries using Sn S2@MWCNT nanostructures as anode material have shown relatively good electrochemical performance. The first charges-discharge Coulomb effect is 71%, at the end of 50 cycles, this capacity has remained at 703 mAh?g-1. The high-capacity properties of SnS_2@MWCNT nanostructured electrodes come from the fact that several types of active materials offer the capability together, and the reaction platform of each material is distinct.

Study on electrochemical performance of tin disulfide/single-walled carbon nanotube composite material used as anode material for lithium-ion battery

A novel composite material made of SnS2 in combination with carbon nanotubes single-walled (SWCNTs) was prepared by an easy method of solvothermal. It was found to have excellent electrochemical characteristics after being put on to negative electrode material of the lithium Ion batteries. In a high density of current of 1 A/g, even after 100 cycle, it still retains a reversible capacity of about 510 amps/g. For comparison, we used this same method to create a single SnS2 material and conduct an electrochemical analysis on it. The results show that although the initial specific capability of SnS2 material is rather high, the cycle performance is poor, and it decreases rapidly after less than 20 cycles. The exceptional capacity of this particular composite for batteries that use lithium is thought to be due to its synergy with the two component of SnS2 along with SWCNTs.
